- Description: A short introduction to the Paths — how The Moment Before groups scenes by emotional movement rather than by film, character, or genre.

Scenes follow emotional paths. At The Moment Before, we group those scenes into Paths — a way of browsing by what a scene is actually doing rather than by film or character.

Two examples:

**The Looking** — a moment where one character truly sees another. *Something There* from *Beauty and the Beast* is a clean example.

**The Longing** — desire for a life or world not yet reached. *A Whole New World* gives us a character wanting beyond the limits of the present.

A scene does not always belong to only one Path. It may carry several at once. *Poor Unfortunate Souls*, for example, can hold Longing, Bargain, and Cost in the same scene.

When that happens, The Moment Before chooses the Path that is strongest in that particular reading — the emotional movement carrying the most weight.

Paths are designed to let you choose the emotional journey you want to follow.

This is what I saw. What did you see?
