What Is Watch?

A short introduction to Watch — how Watch Together and Watch Closer grew from noticing how different people can see the same scene in different ways.

Watching films can bring us closer together. We get to share moments with people we care about.

Watch came about sitting with my daughter. She was six. I would watch her during scenes and started to notice that she reacted differently from me — differently from what I expected. So I asked her a simple question: What do you think is happening? How do you think they feel?

Her answers were funny. Surprising. Often more honest than mine.

Watch Together and Watch Closer grew from that game.

What Is Watch Together?

Watch Together is a guide for watching with children. The idea is simple — pause, ask, listen, and notice what they see.

There are no right answers here. The guide is not a test. It is an invitation to slow the scene down together and hear what the person beside you noticed that you didn’t.

What Is Watch Closer?

Watch Closer is the deeper layer. It is for returning to the same scenes with older viewers — teenagers, adults, or anyone ready to follow the scene further.

The same mechanisms that can make a moment funny to a six-year-old can carry something much heavier when you watch again. Watch Closer follows those patterns — choices, pressure, relationships, and what the scene is doing underneath what it appears to be doing.

Same scene. Different scale. Different depth.

This is what I saw. What did you see?
